How to Generate Ideas for Assignment 2
Use Ed Yong’s “How the Pandemic will End” as a starting point for
your ideas. The ideas will be derived from the readings by Muhammad
Yunus and from the articles on Kony 2012, but you have freedom to
spin it in any way that you find most relevant. Feel free to find an angle
to the issues raised in class that interests you.
*** We will derive topics / issues from the discussion of Kony 2012 and
Yunus chapters, but your research project will not be a discussion of
either the documentary or Yunus’ text.
GOAL:
— Show that you can think independently and that you can take an
issue from the class and develop / probe / examine / apply it further.
— Define and develop an argument
— Divide the text into sections and give each section an appealing
heading
— Create a flow in your argument / text
— Create a visually appealing document (integrate visuals)

For example: You’re writing on anxiety during the pandemic. You
would use current magazine and newspaper articles to establish the fact
that anxiety is spiking under the conditions of social distancing and fear
during the pandemic. Establish also why that is happening and how
anxiety is manifesting specifically during these times.
+ Then, find a couple of academic sources on anxiety to explain what it
is, to indicate how it is triggered, to suggest how it can be controlled or
taken care of.
+ Then, come back to present circumstances and combine the
knowledge of academic sources with the information about the current
moment and perhaps offer some specific recommendations on how to
live with anxiety during these radically different times.

TIPS:
