material will be judged on relevancy to the question, insight that you bring, the depth, breadth, and
clarity of your analysis and explanations, and the cogency and effectiveness of your arguments and
claims. Your essay needs to be well reasoned and well supported with relevant data and references.
Mere general statements, quotes and references do not meet the basic requirements of this Final
Exam. Quoted and paraphrased material must be kept to a 10%minimum. Data sources need to be
referenced using APA style rules.

following list will earn more points than content at the bottom of the list.

Exam Length
The exam length is based upon a general rule of thumb that a typical page which has 1-inch margins
and is typed in 12 point font with standard spacing elements will be approximately 500 words when
typed single spaced.
The maximum length of the essay response is four (4) pages (8-1/2” X 11”) with about 500
words per page. The maximum word count is about 2,000 words. Use a blank line between
paragraphs, “1” margins top/bottom/sides, and Arial 12-point font. The minimum allowable
length of the exam is about three 500-word pages or about 1,500 words. If you decide to include
the following items in your exam, they will not count toward the page length or word count:
PowerPoint executive summary, charts, graphs, tables, reference lists, table of contents, face pages,
