Order Details;

aTask: Explore a developmental topic you are interested in or a developmental area that will directly help you prepare for your future career working with children or adolescents. Consult the index within the textbook if you need a starting point. Clearly define and narrow your focus down to a specific small topic. Begin by gathering five peer reviewed journal articles that cover the topic thoroughly. Information on peer reviewed articles will be posted by the end of week 6. Find research that allows you to understand the connection between your topic and the importance of understanding and respecting diversity or cultural contexts. Analyze and synthesize at least four references (your text may count as one of your four references) into a 5 page formal research paper. The title page does not count toward the five page minimum. Clearly state and support your thesis. Use APA 6th edition format – include citations and reference page. Add an explorative section at the end that includes your personal reflection and connection to the content.

Audience: Write your paper in a way that will be easy for the parents of the children or adolescents you will be working with to understand. Present the research you gather in practical terms. Explain concepts thoroughly using clear language.

Format: This paper is an opportunity for you to master APA style formatting. Create a formal APA cover page. Use the introduction of your paper to engage your reader’s interest in your topic. Show your reader what makes the topic significant. The body of your paper should be made as persuasive evidence through appropriate analysis and synthesis of the peer reviewed journal articles. Include an aspect that demonstrates understanding and respect for diversity and/or the cultural context of your topic. Use the conclusion to “wrap up” both your research and purpose for doing the research while also providing something for the reader to walk away with.  After you have finished the formal paper portion, write an explorative section that includes 1) your personal reflection, 2) connections to the research you have conducted, and 3) what this means to your future career.  Create a reference page with all sources in APA format.
