Imagine a situation where you are paired up with a coworker to complete a very important project for your company. The coworker does not share the same work ethic that you do, and you are concerned about working together toward successful completion of the project. It is not a job that you can handle on your own as there are a lot of specialty areas that this person knows well and you know nothing about. Discuss at least three things you can do to improve your working relationship with this person so that you do not dread going to work every day and that will improve the work you produce as a team.

I will let my co-worker that I going to need his help to finish that project because I can’t handle everything by myself and I am not good at things that he knows well than me. I will admit my weakness because there’s no way of getting around it.

I will also show respect toward the person that I am doing the project with. Respect provides a foundation for building positive relationships (McCammon). When I show respect to that person, I will see the differences in that person opinions, work habits and beliefs, preventing any negative discussion or offensive conversations that can strain our relationship.

I will also display a positive attitude. A positive attitude helps provides a good atmosphere in your workplace (McCammon). Negative comments and conversations make the work environment less bearable, while a positive attitude makes work easier and tasks more enjoyable (McCammon). If this person still don’t want to cooperate with me I will talk to my supervisor about this situation.
