Sandra is a 76 year old grandmother who has identified to her family that she does not wish to be resuscitated. She is well and has made an appointment to see her solicitor to discuss a living will. Following consultation with the solicitor, Sandra signs the living will in the presence of the solicitor and two independent witness who confirm that she is of sound mind and has not been coerced into signing the document. Sandra has now attended the A&E department with a history of diarrhea and vomiting and following assessment is dehydrated and it is decided that an IVI is required.
