Module 1 – How useful are ethical theories in practice?
In this module you will explore and critically understand what is meant by: Virtue ethics, Deontological ethics, Teleological ethics, and Ethical learning and growth,
Module 2 – How do people make sense of ethical issues in business?
To develop an understanding on: Values, Attitudes and beliefs, Values and sensemaking, Values and manager?s behaviour and Personal values
Module 3 -In what ways can people respond to ethical issues in business?
In this module we will be trying, and through case studies to: Connect to ethical theories.Find responses to ethical issues. And, gain a critical awareness of our own and others stances
Module 4 -When and how should managers speak out and act on ethical issues?
In this module you will explore the significance of whistleblowing, and when whistleblowing needs to be performed and justified. You will also investigate if whistleblowing is a positive or a negative force within society.
Module 5 -How do business organizations respond to ethical issues?
In this module you will explore the business responses to ethical issues with specific attention to corporate social responsibility.
Module 6 – To what extent do ethics have a role in creating sustainable businesses?
6 In this module you will explore the concept of ‘sustainability’ and investigate the major environmental issues associated with business. You will also examine how the balanced scorecard approach can assist in developing sustainable business practice.
Module 7 – How useful are codes of ethics and codes of conduct?
7 In this module you will explore the concept of professional ethics and examine the difference between professional codes of ethics and business codes of ethics.
Module 8 – Is business ethics relative?
8 In this module you will explore the International context, global and local values. Looking at business and managerial values in different countries and societies, and the normative debate about ethical universalim and relativism in the business context.
Module 9 – Can global business be ethical?
9 In this module you will explore globalization and international business, looking at cultural diversity or cultural homogenization, and investigating the issue of ?global governance?.
Module 10 – What is your position on Business Ethics?
10 In this module you will explore the need for ethical leadership and investigate the possibility of ethical leadership in business. You will also examine two models of ethical leadership. In addition, we shall conduct a review of the whole semester, and you will be required to write up your reflection on the unit.
