Racial society
Do we live in a post-racial society? Some say the election of Barack Obama signifies a turning point in the politics of race relations. Others say one man does not represent the plight of an entire community. Consider these three perspectives on the topic:

1. Watch Pres. Obama’s speech on race: A More Perfect Union (38 Minutes)

2. Read Raina Kelly’s article Playing the Race Card.

3. Read and watch Former Pres. Carter’s position on Aminoisty Toward Pres. Obama

Then, conduct some independent research into the topic (using scholarly sources) and discuss your thoughts about the arguments presented in each of these materials. What do you agree with? What do you disagree with? What is your position on the charge of underlying racism in American political discourse?

Remember to identify your sources. An in-text citation requires a parenthetical citation, for example: (Smith). Then, provide a formal citation at the end of your posting.
