You%u2019ve recently taken a new HR position which includes managing labor relations in your company. It is not currently unionized, but there are indications that some of the employees might be interested in joining a union. You don%u2019t have a strong background in this aspect of the HR field, so your boss has budgeted funds for you to increase your expertise. Given the following, please explain how you would spend the professional development money. (You cannot hire an anti-union consultant with this money.)

–Timeframe: The fiscal year begins July 1, 2013 and ends June 30, 2014.

Budget: $5000. Costs should be anything needed to purchase the development, except travel costs. (We%u2019ll assume that travel money comes from another budget, so you don%u2019t have to account for those here. That isn%u2019t usual, but it simplifies your assignment.)

Note: Your boss wants you to spend as much of the funds as possible since left-over money must be returned to the corporate pool. Returning money usually means the department will have a harder time next year in securing money.
