Topic One
There was a lot of difficulty to make the conversions from one unit to the other. This is because I am not good in mathematics and science. The fact is that I am interested to calculate conversions but do not have the slightest idea. If i can be able to learn another way of doing the conversions like learning from Google then they can be of great benefit to my lessons in conversions. For me to be able to travel from Minneapolis to Chicago, I need to take forty-two miles or approximately six-seventy nine kilometers. To convert this into meters then I will have to cover approximately six-seventy nine thousand meters. Therefore, by employing the American way of SI units, it was easier to calculate the distance.
Methods that are used regularly like the Furlong, Firkin, and Fortnight System (FFF) were new to me. This method comprises the furlong for length of 200 meters, or approximately 220 yards, firkin for mass of 40 kilograms, or approximately 90 pounds, and fortnight for time, that is in 1.2 million seconds there are two weeks.
The fortnight method is usually based on an ancient English unit, while the others are deliberately ridiculous on how they were developed. Thus, the name furlong is derived from the Old English words furh meaning furrow and then Lang for long.
It dates back at least to early Anglo-Saxon era, it originally used to refer to the length of the furrow in an acre of a ploughed open field, and this was a medieval communal field, which was subdivided into strips. The system of long furrows arose because turning a team of oxen pulling a heavy plough was difficult.

One way of measuring quality is using the the outcome model of quality. It entails using three aspects of care according to Dr. Avedis Donabedian. The three aspects used are the structure, the process, and finally the outcome. The three aspects help to allow an individual to look at key components of care and be able to question deeply in order to assess the quality of care given. In addition, the good Doctor sought to broaden broadened the definition of quality and thus included just the technical management of the patient but also the management of interpersonal relationships.
The writer also scrutinized access to health care and the continuity of care. This according to Sollecito and Johnson in 2011. Thus according to my opinion, the model of quality gave individuals a way to use it to guide them in assessing quality of care. It also sought to create a way to acknowledge the areas of improvement within processes by thinking critically.
Topic Three
A false claim can be described as an offense that is committed with the actual knowledge and intent to defraud or deceive someone. It may also mean that having actual knowledge that a claim is false or else acting with some sort of reckless disregard as to whether a claim is false or qualifies to be false. According to the False Claims Act, this mistake does not cover mistakes, errors, or even negligence. I personally do not think that a mistake or an error can be a fraudulent behavior or act. However these are, just, innocent mistakes, which are not intended to defraud the Medicare system in place.
For this reason, therefore the purpose of a compliance program is to prevent or detect violations of law or company policy. They also seek to help physicians and small group practitioners to design voluntary compliance programs that best fit the needs of their practices.
The most important step in the whole process is to designate a compliance officer to monitor compliance efforts and enforce practical standards in maintaining quality. This is because compliance officer helps to prevent occurrence of future overpayments by scheduling to audit charts and monitor all billings. They usually screen and train employees and providers, perform background checks, maintain an open line of communication, and enforce discipline to maintain the best quality in their service delivery.
Topic Four
A false claim is usually where a person will overcharge for a product, service, or failing to perform a service to defraud the Federal Government. The mistakes and errors found on a claim are not considered a fraudulent behavior, this is unless the person has intentionally deceived or misrepresented a particular claim. Thus if these mistakes or errors are unknown, this could cause the medical office to experience many financial problems. They may be caused by claims being denied or delayed payments as well as costly fines and revenue loss. The compliance programs come in handy to prevent and /or detect violations of law or company policy regarding claims. I am of the opinion that requiring employees to participate in training programs is very important. This is because the employees will not know what is expected when they face a major error and thus this will preventing the employee from giving an excuse of not having the training required.
Topic Five
On this experiment, i am required to convert the recipe from its original imperial units into metric units and to present the differences very well to be seen. It was very difficult using applications to convert them; however, my calculator aided me in making the calculations. This is because i am not good in mathematics. To calculate the distance from Conroe Texas to the Kaplan graduation ceremony in Miami, FL it will take approximately 1,190.18 miles, which is equivalent to approximately 1,915.409 kilometers that I would have to travel.
However, if I wanted to know the distance in smaller units, using the imperial units, I would convert the miles into yard and then into feet. Then by using the SI units then I would convert the kilometers into meters and centimeters. Therefore, I will travel 5280 feet to reach Miami FL from Conroe or 1915409 meters.
The system that was easier to employ was using the imperial system to get the short distances because I will use a calculator but then again strive to convert them back into meters from kilometers. After during some research I found out that in ancient England before 1824, they used the English units. The English units were a combination of the Anglo-Saxon and Roman systems. Some of the examples include digit, or finger. A digit is an ancient measurement of length, while a digit is equivalent to ¾ inch and lastly a finger is equivalent to 7/8 inch.
