Case Study: Glasgow 2014

Order Description

The title of the case study is : Glasgow 2014: Demonstrating capacity & competency in Foley, M., McGillivray, D. & McPherson, G. (2012) Event policy, from theory to strategy. London: Routledge, pp.117-129. — If you can find it yourself please let me know so I won’t have to scan and send to you.

The essay is in form of 3 questions to be answered. There is no need for introduction or conclusion- just the question title in bold and an essay like answer to each question.

Question A) IDENTIFY THE KEY STAKEHOLDERS OF THE 2014 COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN GLASGOW AND BRIEFLY OUTLINE THEIR MOTIVATIONS AND ROLES.
(you can show the stakeholders in a diagram)

B) CRITICALLY EVALUATE THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE IMPACTS THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES HAVE HAD ON GLASGOW AND HOW THEY ARE BEING MEASURED.

C) WHAT LESSONS CAN BE LEARNT FROM GLASGOW FOR OTHER COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES WHO ARE CONSIDERING BIDDING FOR THE GAMES IN FUTURE YEARS.
(this question will be out of 40 marks unlike the first 2 questions that are out of 30 marks, so the last question should be perhaps a bit longer or more detailed than the others) Include the financial situation of these countries who just don’t have the capacity. However well Glasgow did, some countries just can’t manage it (economy, resources. no infrastructure?hotels, climate?)

You need to understand Stakeholder theory & select a conceptual model. Link the theory & apply it.
Use Getz(2007) ‘facilitators’, ‘regulators’, ‘co-producers’. ‘allies&collaborators’. And Reid and Arcodia (2002) ‘primary ‘v’ secondary’ stakeholders. Plus any other similar BOOKS OR JOURNAL ARTICLES as references.
