Project Title              Aggieland: Gaston Alonzo Edwards

Objective                   To engage students in conducting research and writing about the type of education offered by the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race and how that legacy has helped to shape NC A&T State University as it is today. Students acquire a perspective of education, the academic and campus life of a student, Gaston Alonzo Edwards in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.


Description                Aggieland Project is a Biography of Gaston Alonzo Edwards, a

                                    graduate of the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored

                                    Race in 1901. Students will write a biography of Gaston Alonzo

Edwards in a factual narrative of his life before enrolling at the

A&M College in 1896, his life as a student on campus between 1896 and

1901 and his professional career after graduation. This is a Biography and

not an Autobiography, it can’t be written in the first person. (do not use I)

This narrative must be based on factual information, not fictional; and include 16 photographs wrapped within the text and not presented as separate attachments.

Paper Format            The paper must be in the Chicago Manual of Style format, with a title

page, body of the paper has in-text citations for any statements taken directly from the source without paraphrasing and include a Bibliography page (see next page, Major Paper Sections or visit Purdue Owl website for

                                    correct format for Chicago Manual of Style). MLA format cannot be used.

                                    Paper is to be typed in 12 font, Times New Roman double-spaced and

                                    include a minimum narrative of five pages excluding the Title page and

                                    Bibliography page. Photographs, 11 specified by the professor and five

selected by the student. Approximate photograph size is 1.4 inches in height and 1.82 inches in width. Position photograph with text wrapping.
