This assignment focuses on vignette analysis and direct application of course concepts to the persons, and situations presented in the vignette for each question. All assignments MUST be typed, double-spaced, in APA style, and must be written at graduate level English.
You must integrate the material presented in both of the texts and cite your work according to APA format. All discussions must take into account issues of culture and human diversity that may pertain to the situations presented below. Information on Culture and Diversity are mentioned in both course texts, but you will need to utilize other resources to enhance your cultural analysis for this assignment.
Please keep your responses focused on what is presented in the vignette. Creativity is encouraged but do not add information or change the vignette.
Your answers should be 3-4 pages for each vignette.
VIGNETTE THREE:
You have been treating an Hispanic-American gentleman diagnosed with a severe mental illness for several years. You currently seem him twice monthly for stabilization therapy. He recently lost his job, his medical insurance, and is in danger of losing his home. This gentleman feels he owes his life to you and does not want to terminate therapy, but he fears he will lose his ability to see you due to finances. He asks if there is any way he could do handyman work for you around the office to pay for his therapy. You were planning on having your office painted, getting some repairs done, and other upgrades anyway.
1. What boundary issues and therapeutic concerns do you see?
2. How would you go about your decision making process?
3. Would you seek supervision and why?
4. What documentation and record keeping issues arise?
VIGNETTE FOUR:
You have been treating a multi-generational Africa-American family for over 10 years. You receive a call from one of the family members that an elder in the family has passed away. You are also informed that the elder who died has willed a valuable antique desk to you as he always visualized the desk in your office. They also feel this would commemorate his life and honor the help you have given to their family.
